Have a ticket, go on a ride...                                                                   19

'Sarita, I just checked the records and there is a very immediate patient in transit from BaySim City all the way to here. ' Millie walks in and adds, 'Oh yeah and did you see how long she has been pregnant? I am sure that is a typo. Girls can you imagine carrying a baby for almost five years?' They all laughed so hard. Then Sarita looked over the information. 'You know girls this is really an oddity. She has to have been seen. Oh yeah, she lives in that town where the hospital was blown up. Remember that?' Melinda frowns. 'If she is from that town, why is she on her way here? They have a brand new hospital they just opened a few months ago.'

Millie sat down. She was getting heavier as her baby grew. It made her feet swell. 'You know I have to hand it to her if the numbers are true. I have only been pregnant six months and I am so tired of it.' She patted her tummy. 'Now baby, I am so tired of waiting for you darling.' Melinda and Sarita both laughed. 'You can't expect a child inside of you to understand what you are saying do you Millie?' Melinda sputtered out while she laughed. Millie stuck her nose up and acted indignant. Then she began to laugh. 'Well, it never hurts to be careful.' The girls chatted for some time. Sarita looked through the books and charts to see if she could find something that was even remotely similar.

Millie and Melinda chatted about the baby and her husband. Melinda was single and not dating. Sarita looked and scanned through things. Then she dug deeper into the files and found something odd. 'Girls, you are not going to believe this.' she says as she walks over to the desk. She sits down and begins to read aloud: 'Mrs. Bluesage was admitted to HogFarSims General with a full term son. Now that's not unusual in 1949 to have a baby. What makes this unusual is the typo that is in this file. Length of term of pregnancy:234 weeks.'

There is silence. Then Sarita speaks up. 'Girls, this is strange. This lady had four kids at the time. The other pregnancies were not remarkable. They lasted 40 weeks. What the daylights is wrong with this baby boy that he is was so different than the others?' She stared at the paper and went deep into thought. Millie and Melinda looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. 'Hey Millie, wanna see if there is anything to snack on upstairs. I heard that Dr. David required a certain amount when he talked to someone.'

Bluesage found tickets to take his family on that was not overly expensive. Their finances were somewhat tight, as Patty had to stop EMT work as she became more pregnant. The reason the flight was so cheap was that the second plane the Bluesage family boarded was full of children- Children making more noise than a playground.

The flight hostess had given up trying to make them sit down. The flight was ready to take off and they would have to sit there until everyone was strapped in. ‘Blue, if I have to hear one more balloon pop I think I might have to say something.’ He looked over at her and realized how much stress she felt. He patted her hand and told her he would do what he could to settle it down so they could all be calmer and leave.

Bluesage stood up and cleared his throat. Then he said in a nice but louder voice, ‘Attention Soldiers of Life.’ The kids all stopped and looked at the man that just called them a solider. Blue smiled as he saw their faces. These were homeless children on their way to the orphanage and he felt their pain.

‘We are all here on a journey to the rest of our lives. Why don’t we all sit and strap down to see how fast we can fly in the air? After that we shall all have to talk among ourselves and tell the person beside us all the story of the wonder of their life to this point. Each of you will do that. Then when you are finished, I want you to then take the time to tell each other what your goals and desires are for your future. You all have a future, we all do. So let’s begin shall we?’

They all scurried to their seats and began a discussion that ran the entire length of the plane ride. Patty looked at her husband and loved him all the more for his wonders. Rebecka sat in the seat in front of them with a little boy that wanted to be teacher when he grew up.

The rest of the flight was spectacular and the hostess personally thanked Blue for his help. He and his family took the next taxi in line and went to the hotel he selected. They did not arrive until after eleven. They were exhausted- So much time in the air and time waiting to get in the air.

‘Yes sir, please sign in right here.’ Oh I see your name is Mr. D. Allen and you live in BaySim City? Wow you are quite far away. Alright Mr. Allen I need to see some proof of ID please.’ Patty cringed each time she heard that. Blue had told her that the key to this was to feel the part. She closed her eyes and saw him take out his wallet and show her his ID.

She felt like she was Mrs. Allen at that moment and it all passed on. She opened her eyes and he was sitting down beside her. He was quite amused with how she had learned to settle herself. She was a good student. ‘Patty, did that help you angel? You know we are the Allen family as far as we can tell. We are whoever we wish to be. It is our free will in place my darling. He grabbed her hand and they walked to the buffet.

Rebecka had already filled her plate and was sitting at the table. ‘Rebecka you must finish and then get to the room darling. You look very tired sweetheart.’ Patty could see how long the day was and the impact on her young teenager. They have enormous energy supplies, but even teenagers need more sleep as their brains and body are developing. ‘Mom, what are they going to do to you tomorrow?’

It was then that Patty and Blue could see that their sweet daughter had more on her mind than her own life. ‘Mom will be taken in and checked Becca. We will not be staying and she will be just fine. I don’t want you to worry your head about it. Keep good positive thoughts in your head and you will help us stay in the light.’

Becca finished and sat on the edge of her bed. She thought quietly to herself, “Dear Sims God, keep my mother and baby brother safe and secure in your love and care. Please help my daddy keep mom protected and loved. Amen’

She then jumped into bed and fell fast to sleep. The couple finished their dinner, and then slowly walked to the room. Blue could see how deeply tired Patty was. He made sure the room they took had a bath and a shower. He set up the bath with hot water and lots of bubbles. She came in with her robe on and smiled at him.

He carefully helped her step in the tub and sat beside her and helped her with the bath overall. He loved her so much. What more could he ask of his beloved than to bear him a special child. They talked quietly and talked to their unborn son. As she lay in their bed, she turned to him and said, ‘Blue, do you have some energy left my darling?’ He had just sat on the edge of their bed and taken his glasses off. He was rubbing his eyes as she asked. He smiled, turned the night light off and crawled in next to her.
