Mother/Daughter Wars are never pretty.... Chapter 10
Blue had work to do in order to be ready for their move. He took the time to be certain that Patty and Becky were not at odds. He knew his daughter was changing. He knew some of her demeanor was her transformation. He hoped to help her through it and get to the other side. The incredible release when one finished a course is so powerful. He thought of her at that end and felt such a sense of pride. He knew she would be there, he did not see fantasies. He saw truth. He sighed, ‘Ah but not soon.’
He found Patty nursing his hungry son. ‘Darling, I have to go now. I have checked with her, and I think it’s settled down. I might be late. Are you going to be able to handle this?’ He knew she could but he also knew how fragile a woman is at this early state of new life. She looked at him with sweet eyes and smiled. ‘Yes sage man, I am just fine. I will find the strength to hold off any wars until you get home to referee.’ Blue laughed and bent to kiss her. He pushed a ray of safety around her with his love he felt for her.
He took the next jump into Magic Town. The day was quiet for some time. Patty slept while David slept. Becky played on the computer and made herself something to eat. She made her mother a lunch plate and covered it. She sat it back inside the fridge. She closed the door and never thought again of that plate of kindness. She went back to her tent and saw the squirrels had been inside. They had taken her pillow apart and torn it into tuffs of stuffing. She gasped, and saw fire. She ran out of her tent and out into the forest. She had to get away. All of a sudden she was doubled up in agony. She didn’t know what she might do now. She sat on a rock for the next half hour as the daylight began to dim.

Patty found her lunch in the fridge and her heart swelled. Her eyes filled with tears and she sat for a few minutes. It hurt her to fight with her daughter. Why was she doing unruly things? Blue said it was part of training in some fashion. She got the plate, and sat at the table. She felt the chair; it was spindly but so nice to sit finally. Blue had constructed them out of tree branches found in the forest. As she sat and thought of the last few days, she heard Rebecca coming up behind her.

She stood up in time to see her run into the table and drag the chairs off. She broke them into pieces. Patty stood there in shock. ‘What are you doing with those, REBECCA you broke the chairs that daddy made. Why?’ She began to walk away to see if the baby was ok. She would give Becky some space to cool off.

That is when she heard her. She was standing behind Patty, raging. ‘You are not going to make me do anything I don’t want to do. I want to do fun things and you want to move me to the East coast. I do not want to live there. I do not think you will keep a house. You and dad keep moving us and always have. I am so sick of being a good girl. You and dad decided to have this baby and now I am not anybody but your other child.’

Patty crossed her arms and tried to not listen. She was feeling tired. Lack of sleep and having worked so hard yesterday made it more difficult to have a war. She knew she had to calm down. Blue and her had many discussions on how to talk to her and not engage her. She crossed her arms and chose to keep her mouth shut. If she tried hard enough, she could get herself out of the rage that had crept inside. Rebecca saw this as her way in.

Her mind was not her own and she began to see red spots all over her world. She looked at her mother and did not see her mother. She began to pummel her with her hands. Patty did not hit her back, but blocked the best she could. Rebecca’s eyes were dark and she saw that something was really going on inside her daughter that made her worry. She could not believe this was happening to her and Becky.
She knew something was wrong and was worried as she fought her off. After a minute or so of slapping, Rebecca backed off and just stood there breathing hard. She was so full of adrenalin that you could see her heart beat in her temples. Patty took a deep breath and turned to face her. ‘Rebecca, this is a fist, not something you use to hit someone you love with.
