Their lack of empathy for their dirty deeds                                 62

When Becca gets back to the house with the girls she is very quiet. She keeps a smile on her face to keep them from questioning her. They had the loot taken out of the back and put in the garage.

Becka finally decided to go see what they were doing. She wondered where her money was. When she walked in, she saw. They had already boxed up her loot for her. She walked around in the garage as they put the boxes on shelves. Their chatter was nothing she was interested in She wanted to leave. She had to get out. She was scared.

‘Why don’t we just get some Chinese? Becca, would you like something to eat? You seem awful quiet. Are you ok?’ She looked over at the little girl: clutching the bear and staring at the boxes. Evelyn walked over to her and touched her shoulder. Becca jumped.

‘Chill, geeze what is wrong with you? Let’s go get some dinner. You stay here and maybe go take a bath. You might feel better when we bring dinner home.’ The girls lingered, eyeing the shiny coins. Evelyn follows Becca out.

'What is wrong with you, you act like a brat. I know you were at that bank before. So what if those people are not working there? No one is. Now just go take a hot bath and see if you can get over this mood. I don't care to have snotty brats in my home.' Becky just stood there looking up at the sky. Her mind wondered how to get out of this horrible situation. Then she rememberd how her dad explained things in a way that made others calmer.

'Evelyn, I know I seem silly. I am only 13 and I just had not thought that would happen. I do feel bad, you know why.

I have a back ache and those boxes were heavy.'

'Becca, do you have that awful monthly problem yet?' Becky laughed, 'Oh yes I sure do.' The other girls came out and interuppted them.  'Shut up and let's go Eve. We're hungry.' They all laughed and waved at young Becca.

She watched the van leave. She was very excited she hardly could breathe. She went inside to see them leave and then back out to look at the boxes. She knew which one was hers. They had put hers on the bottom. She also saw they had a wagon. She smiled and got her box down and put in the wagon.

She ran inside and got her backpack and the bear. She stopped and looked at the boxes of matches on the kitchen counter. Her eyes filled with tears and she began to sob. She ran out of the kitchen to the garage and dragged the wagon out.

She began to walk as fast as she could to the nearest bus stop.

The trip on the bus gave her memories of her parents. She shook her head, 'Stop that NOW.' The night sky was a bit frightening to her, she was not used to being up so late. The fear of what those girls did, made her sick to her stomach. She had to stop and try not to let it happen, she was in a bus. She looked up and saw it was mostly empty. An old man looked up at her and winked. She felt a chill down her spine and looked down at her hands.

A couple blocks later, she saw the park, stood and pulled the stop. As she gathered her belongings, the  few riders in the bus got up and helped her with her wagon and boxes. She thanked them and pulled it into the park.   Across from the park was the HomelessSimLives establishment. She knew she had to do something with the boxes. She had filled her pack with what she needed to get by. Becca pulled the wagon to the front door of the orphanage. She lifted the two boxes and put them inside the front hallway. She closed the door and walked to the nearest hotel. She got a room for the night.

Since she was young, the attendant asked for her ID. Becca was ready for that, and showed him a card that gave her age to be 16. This was a ploy she had figured out while her parents were out. The online service dad had on his computer gave her access to things that would shock her parents.

As she waited for the attendant to give her a key, she noticed a stack of papers. On the top was a flyer with large letters. The bright blue and yellow caught her eye. She picked one up, took her key and walked over to her room.

Call 444-5582 for a job with the most exciting circus in town. We need clowns, stunt men, magic men; we need kids to help on the main floor. Call and we will find you a job. All night, every day, call and we will hire you. She looked at the phone and thought. She called and got herself a job that started first thing. They wanted her to come in costume, and she knew she could. First thing tomorrow
