A friend indeed is good to have...  Chapter 16

He woke up first, and changed the sheets on the baby’s bassinet. Black sheets were something he had been saving to see if he could get a rise out of Patty. He crawled back into bed. Soon everyone was awake. After the baby was fed they saw that the light of the sky had become brighter. The sun was almost up. They took the time to meditate at sunrise. Something they enjoyed doing. She ran to the restroom to freshen up.  When she came out she saw he had made their breakfast. Berries and dove eggs combined for lovely omelets. She found taking care of their young son brought her appetite up to a peak. She never seemed to get enough.

‘Blue that looks marvelous, let’s eat.’ They sat and talked of the trip they would take. She was concerned they would banish them with a newborn. He assured her that the land they were going to would allow this. Before she got up she cut her eyes over to her son, then to her husband. ‘Great sheets dad, I always have liked you in black.’ She smiled at him and took hers and his dishes to the sink.

They readied themselves and the baby and got prepared for the transport. Blue had arranged for all three of them to meet with Robin at the newer Land Base for Psychics. He had a harness he put on her to hold David. The transport could be dangerous for him without it. Unknown to her, the baby would become invisible once strapped in. Completely weightless is the reason for this procedure, and no harm comes to the infant.

‘Listen love, you have to be cautious in the tunnels. They change in an instant and if you are not watching, you end up in the wrong place.’ She looked horrified. She had moved rarely through the jumps. She preferred the balloon arrivals.

‘Blue, this harness is safe for him, he is so tiny still.’ He came and checked it again. He bent and kissed her cheek.

‘It’s fine love, now let’s go. ‘ He took her by the hand.

The jump was longer than it should have been. Blue held tightly to her as they traveled through the tube. He saw the light where the tunnel changed direction, which was their exit also. He turned and told her to hold tight to David.

‘This is the spot we have to be most careful. I want you and the baby to go first.’ He pushed her ahead of him. She looked back wide eyed. She was clutching her baby to her bosom. He winked at her and she smiled back. Her fear was gone and in and instant she was on the ground, no harm to her or David. Blue appeared in the next instant next to her.

‘So now you know what it’s like Patty to move together. Hey, look over there, Robin.’ Waiting for them was a friend of Steven’s from childhood. ‘Hello again, I am so glad to see you here tonight. Robin I would like you to meet my wife and mother of my two children, Patty. Here darling, hand me the baby.

‘Hello Robin, I’m that woman he’s always known. This is our son David Leslie, and he is an whole five days old this morning.’ She handed him to Blue, who set him in the baby bed on the porch. A nursemaid stood by him, occasionally walking over and listening to the conversation.

In no time Patty had Robin telling her all about his business and how it came to be. She asked about his personal life and just about anything that she wanted. Robin was delighted to speak with her and kept an eye on Steven to see his amusement too.

‘Well I hear it’s been rough with your teenager Blue. You know Patty, Steven was a rebel as a teenager sometimes. The things he would do would make the local fire department wonder if they ever had time to sleep. A real fire bug for about two months.’

Blue looked at Robin and remembered this to be true. Not always can someone pull up memories unless the circumstances occur that allows it. Or, in this case, a friend with a good memory to remind you of times that were once forgotten.

‘Blue, you never told me about that.’ She turned and looked at her husband. ‘Robin, tell us about the animals you have in your house.’

Robin asked many questions about Patty's life prior to Blue. Of course Blue understood what Robin was doing. Patty was timid when it came to her family ties to the Mafia ring. It took Robin about ten minutes to get all he needed. The nursemaid then interruped them with a baby that began to cry the moment he was in his mothers arms. Patty sat on the porch feeding him, watching Blue and Robin laughing and talking.

They stood around and spoke for some time. They had so much to catch up on. Good friends never really lose touch. They can be away from each other for eons, come back, and start right back where they left off. Robin and Bluesage had so much to tell each other that Robin forgot someone was waiting for the family.

‘Steven and Patty, I have asked a great man to come and speak with you about your daughter. It will be imperative that you listen and do not ask questions.’
