'Okay I think you need to know this will be very difficult. I think you are a very strong woman and I know we can make this work together. We do not know how near or how far she might be tonight. We must keep our wits about us at all times. This Clown City is worse than the last time we visited. The reports are worrisome to me, so please stay close to me at all times. Come, let’s get ready, I have to call for the ship to take us.'
'I will get the baby’s bag ready Blue, I just need a moment.'
She ran ahead of him to the bathroom. Her body was sweating, she felt dizzy, light headed. She wanted to run towards the toilet, but she never got that far. She leaned on the wall to support herself as she lost her breakfast.
Afterwards she stood and straightened her back. A wet rag over her face cooled her down. Inside her head she knew he was right. He only warned her like that to keep her from not paying attention. This night would be one not to forget, so she would pay close attention.
She could hear him talking to the operator. It always was funny how they let them take David with them, when it was standard policy not to let infants ride the dangerous air ships.
She walked out and saw that her man somehow moved the tissue box to the table. What a marvelous life she had with him. ‘I need to blow my nose; I seem to have a stuffy nose too. Then the feeling came over her again. She was very aware it was an inside fright that she would not have Becky back in her arms. It was so overwhelming sometimes, she hardly could stand, and she wavered over the chair. Steven finished his call and walked over to her. He knew her problem was deeper than she let him think.
‘I am so scared Blue, how can I possibly get through this? We have tried so many times, do you think tonight is really the night?’ He squeezed her as he spoke. ‘Yes my love tonight is the night of our dreams. You do know that I have contacts within, as we all do. I have contacted what is important and I know tonight is the night. Now, look me in the eye and tell me how much love you have for our children.’ She looked over at her baby and then began to cry. This released her pent up emotion and soon she was laughing over the funny times Becky has given them.
They walked hand in hand through their forest. The flowers were bright and so colorful, it was hard not to feel the joy expanding. The bright red and blue birds found nests areas above them. The sound of babies chirping was a delightful sound. Blue stopped them at one point to redirect their small garden gnome. He has many trees that needed pruning. David needed a change so she worked on that, as Blue tried to call the flight director about their airship. It was twenty minutes late. Finally he could see it in the distant. ‘Get back Patty, this is a new flight for that man, look how the ship is tilted. Did we bring David’s harness?’
As the ship hovered overhead, the turbines began to throw dust around at the surface. Blue quickly covered David in the stroller while Patty clutched his arm for safety. The ship finally landed and the driver grinned a toothless smile at them. Steven had once again given the driver a blank stare as they loaded their son onto the ship. Blue strapped the baby and his wife with the extra harness he made. This was going to be a very rough ride and there was little he could do about that.
