Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon....                              138

She lay on her side, violently spilling her lunch onto the dirt. ‘You can breath now kid, boy you scared them.’ Becky looked up at the teenager talking to her. She was in her white skeleton costume without the head. ‘My name is Sara Beth. You really scared us all, that white costume you wore reacted to the chemicals in the water. Becky’s eyes grew wider as she listened. Sara told her of the changes, ‘Which won’t be used, now they see how you reacted.’

Sara Beth sat Becky up to give her water. ‘We left the blue suit on you until later. It’s important not to take it off till it’s dark. The glue they used inside that one damages your skin.’ Sara walked with Becky until she met the clown.

Becky considered her from the last time she saw her. She trusted this person; not realizing it was not the same woman. ‘Sit down and listen to us before Rodney finds you again Becky.’

They all had explained that the dangers of her adventure tonight might be long lasting. They also knew she had to find her parents and get out of Clown Town. Rodney had dangerous expectations and all of these adults near her were concerned. Becky agreed she had to find her mom and dad. To try and be safe from the atmosphere, they suggested she play in the golf course. The three seemed to have more to discuss after she left them, the way they huddled and looked suspicious.

She had a young heart, and an adventurous spirit. She saw the fountain of water, took a sip for testing. Soon she felt very weird, her middle began to growl. She saw she had become slightly invisible where the liquid was inside of her. As she wondered what to do next, something made her glance up, seeing a cop and two others walking toward her.

'Miss Bluesage, you must go with me now. We have to deactivate that chemical before we release you to your parents.’

‘Mom and dad are here?’

Steven had transported the food over to Patty. They ate quickly, as the atmosphere felt very alive. A whisper of love in her ear, and he transported himself back into the confusion. Everywhere people were discussing water events or fire events, something that he concerned him. He pushed that away and stood, listening to the voices. His daughter had a unique sound that he could hear if he tried hard enough.

Someone tapped him on his shoulder.

‘Are you Mr. Bluesage?’
