So take a look at me now, oh there's just an empty space

'All right Patty you sit right here.' He lifted her chin and looked at her eyes. He had to be certain she was not falling into shock again. Her pupils were normal so he tweaked her nose and handed her a box of tissues. He brought her the frame set of the baby and Becky and a family photo. He saw she had found a basket of laundry while he was gone. She looks down at the basket; it was all baby clothes. She sat in a stupor once more as he begins to think of what next. He looks at her, to see if she would move. She stirs and then begins to take a t-shirt out and look at. He wondered if it was a good idea, but she then began to fold the clothes. He could slightly relax.

‘We are going to have to alert the police and I think Robin needs to be called too. It cannot be your father Patty. He has thugs that would have killed us. As you see whoever did this is, meant no physical harm to us.’ She looked up at him, ‘Do you not call tearing a mother’s heart physical?’

He shook his head. He had to help her. He took a deep breath and let it out. He sat down by her, turned her chair so she was facing him. ‘Now darling, give me your hands. I want you to listen to me. Peace is a learned behavior. If we practice non-violence, we shall have no violence. Be gentle with yourself mi’love. It will carry over to others. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Everything is a lesson. And my wife of my lifetimes, to heal, all you need to know is the love in you is the healer in you.’ He pulled her close and kissed her long and slowly. He wanted her to feel calmer and be more peaceful. It would help them immensely to find their baby.

Bluesage left her with a cup of hot tea while he changed. He called the police from another room so she could not hear him. They told Blue a car was in their area.

Soon the policewoman drove up. Her pants were unclean. She had been at the donut shop and was relaxing when the possible kidnapping came over her radio. She had to cut her snack time short to find out what was wrong. She forgot her napkins and smeared her pants with the sticky mess. The car splashed through the wet streets. As she slowed and turned onto their street, she noticed the whole street only had this one house on it. She turned her headlights to high beam. Not one puddle on the road. That was very odd.

She  pulled over to the curb, told the Dispatcher she had arrived. Bluesage heard the patrol car. ‘Patty I am going to meet with them outside. You are going to be alright here?’ “Yes I am going to fold these baby clothes. I’m going to be fine.’

He walked out and shook her hand. ‘Hello Ma’am I am Steven Bluesage.’ She interrupted him. ‘Excuse me, I will need to know why you called us sir.’ Bluesage gave her the information while she wrote it all down. It made her think of something she heard earlier: some woman walking the neighborhood acting suspicious about an hour ago. She would have to look into that. She had a large cinnamon roll in her mind most of all, and tried to hurry with the victim’s father. She skimmed through the formalities, turned, and walked towards her car. She had a large smile on her face.
