You slip out of your depth and out of your mind...

The following morning began with a bright sunny sky. Things were very quiet in the Bluesage family`s new home. Rebecca was out in the patio, looking at clouds. It would be another hour before her schoolbus would arrive. She missed her baby brother and was praying for his return

Patty was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast.. She set the toaster on the table. When she did, a note hidden beneith it caught her eye. She read it with tears in her blue eyes. Her husband Bluesage was saying good-bye. 

"Goodbye." the note read. " I have important business. I`m taking Greg with me. I don`t know if I`ll ever return."

Red-face with sorrow, she rushed into the patio and held Rebecca close to her. 

"What`s wrong, Mommy?" the child asked. 

"Oh Becky!" Patty sobbed, "Your father has left us !!"

She sobbed louder once she realized that the background music was playing a sad old Helen Reddy tune
