Many days passed by:
Becky got up before mom and cleaned her room; she knew how much it would mean to mom. As she walked towards the kitchen she heard a truck. Her heart skipped a beat and she ran to the window; is it daddy coming home with David? She saw with disappointment that it was just the mail delivery.
With a discouraged feeling in her chest, she walked down to get the mail. Mom was in the kitchen humming. Patty noticed her slump in her walk and hoped her daughter would work through it. She smiled as she stirred the marshmallow crème batter. The little toenails were crushed to make it easier to eat. The protein was an important part of her diet; a budding young woman needed the extra nutrients in every way a parent could find to supplement meals.
The bright sun blinded Becky for a moment when she opened the door. The fresh smell of cut grass hit her like a strong wind. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Living within distance of the college had many benefits; one being several cute boys she would like to talk to someday. The grounds keeper always is working to make the college beautiful. She saw him and her heart jumped; he was so handsome, and he was looking at her.
She waved as he drove the lawn tractor over the field. Becky went over to the mailbox and opened it up. As she took out the envelopes she saw one that caught her eye; it was in a bright purple envelope. Much to her surprise, it was addressed to her. She let out a squeal as she saw it was from her daddy.
Patty had stopped her preparations and watched Becky out the window, as she went towards the mailbox. The look Becky gave the young man mowing made her laugh. Their daughter was fast approaching the age of boys and what they can lead her into.
As Becky reached in the box, Patty felt a wave of happiness flow over her. She knew exactly why; as her beloved has always been able to push waves of love her direction. Patty closed her eyes and felt the blue sky take her up and away. Her soul caught the wave of energy and took it within. Her heart beat steadily as she felt his deep compassion drive into her soul. Patty let out a deep sigh as Becky walked in, chattering aimlessly.
'You aren't going to believe this one mom. Look, daddy sent me a card.'
Becky held up a beautiful card that said on the outside : Inside Out
My precious daughter,
I think of you each and every morning I open my eyes. I have so much to say to you and have so little time to speak. I meditate each night and push my love for you and your mother. I also speak to our baby, though I have not located him yet.
I wanted to talk to you today about the person you are on the outside. How it can never be more successful than the person you are on the inside. Whatever it is you desire for your life, develop it first within yourself. Your mother and I have tried to teach you this each day of your life.
You can determine, with no limitations, the person you are inside. And as you do, that person comes to life on the outside as well. The dramatic effects are easily seen. If you see yourself as unstoppable, you are so. Your mother and I both see you Rebecca with a destiny that is beyond anyone’s grasp, but your own.
Yes, you could take the outer difficulties and internalize them Becky. We have had our share of difficulties as a family. Yet if you do this, then the difficulties would soon flow back out from you and manifest on the outside as even greater difficulties. I am sure you can see this my dear daughter.
Instead, reach deep within and connect with the highest positive purpose that is surely there. Nurture and encourage that purpose with your thoughts and actions, no matter what may be going on in the world outside. I might not be there dear sweet child, but I am there in your mind and heart. Take your life to the highest and know that I shall support you from beneath.
As you do, the best of whom you are inside will begin to appear on the outside. Your accomplishments will have the power of purpose behind them, making them real and lasting. In the midst of all of this, you have your mother and father to love and cherish you always.
Know that I love you and your mother more each and every day. I am working hard to finish and come back to my girls. Take care of yourself and help your mother as best you can. I am so proud of all you do Becky. Know this and take it to your heat, you are an awesome young woman and I cannot put in words the depth of my feelings. Greg is being very good and helpful. I am taking good care of him dear daughter.
Love to you always
Dad

'Mama, look at the front of the card. It's a deep blue sky isn't it?'
Patty looked up and smiled. 'Your daddy is very smart.' Bluesage knew what impact the card might have on both of them. Encouraging words AND a Blue sky. They sat and laughed and giggled while they ate. Bluesage knew how to get inside his girls head and tickle them. How they loved him so, wanting him and the baby home soon.
