Unknown to the mob family, Bluesage kept up with his wife's needs as she continues to carry their second child. As the new Hospital ground breaking began, he took his family to the outing to enjoy the day. He kept a good eye on the people that came. All seemed to go so nicely. Rebecca found that the Patch girls had arrived. Their mom had remarried and she knew it was a good event; A new hospital always is needed in a town. She was thrilled when she saw Patty and Steven. They walked around and talked of all that had happened. The girls were giggling and laughing so hard that they were becoming quite a site to see. Bluesage looked at them, and called out his daughter's name. The one thing he needed was her to not put too much attention to her own self. The Patch girls both snickered and then calmed too. He smiled at them and winked. They all laughed at him.
The family was in line to get the buffet that the EMS had arrived with. All the town had arrived to see the new ground breaking ceremony. There was quite the talk of the last one that was bombed. So many died, and so many were harmed. It actually harmed the whole town. Soon with the new one built it would heal many wounds. As they sat at tables and enjoyed the free meal, Steven saw how much Rebecca shone when she was with her friends. It saddened him some but pleased him more. She was a remarkable young girl and would be all the better for this life he had chosen to take. He smiled, he knew she chose it too. Free will.
Afterwards the EMS had home made ice cream and some of the paramedics had dressed as clowns. Even at 12 years of age, Rebecca could still be as silly and giddy over the sight of a clown making dogs out of balloons. Patty and Blue and Karen sat in the shade licking their cones as their girls all jumped up and down and acted like children do with no cares in the world. It was a moment that stood in Pattys mind. The joy of freinds brought her back to her own time as a little girl. 'I could play and act happy as I could, but I knew the truth even then. ' She was far inside when she felt her husband squeeze her hand. She looked at him with surprise.
'Going to be gone long darling?' He smiled and kissed her hand. He knew where she was. She had a hurt in her that he was always touching, kissing and smoothing out. Not even if her father was out of their lives would it be completely gone. Everyone knew who had done the deed. No one knew though that Patty was the daughter of the Don. 'Karen would you watch Becky for us, I think Patty and I are going to go for a bit of a walk.' Blue took Patty over to the pond. She tried to shake off her sadness that had overtook her. They sat on rocks and just listened to the birds and the fish splashing in the water. The kids screaming and the adults clapping was nice to witness. Birds chirped and mosquitos buzzed. Blue waved a few off of her as he sat and waited until it was the right time. He looked at her and jumped.
'Feeling good is hard sometimes isn't it my angel? The joy is sometimes mixed with sadness. But it feels good to feel good, about yourself, about your world, about those around you. And feeling good, as simple as it sounds Patty, can be a truly powerful and positive force. Genuinely feeling good is more than just empty pleasure. It comes when you have the confidence and courage to be who you are, to live what you believe, with purpose, with meaning, with integrity. Which is what you do my sweet wife. You are someone that is worthy of respect and you most certainly have integrity. We see it all the time. In an attempt to appear sophisticated, some folks think they must be constantly critical, judgmental, and pessimistic. We both have met some of those in our lives together have we not?' This made her smile big and wide. That is what he wanted to see.
He continuted; 'Yet true sophistication is the ability to bring out the best in yourself and in those around you, even though the challenges may be great. In order to be your best, it helps tremendously when you can feel your best. Feeling good about what you're doing will greatly enhance your commitment and your ability to see it through. Feeling good is not a matter of ignoring the negative realities. It's a matter of overpowering those difficult challenges with a positive, purposeful spirit. Go ahead and feel good Patty. The world eagerly welcomes all the goodness you can give it.' Blue turned her and kissed her deeply and long. She was smiling and her eyes were sparkling when they looked at one another. She was back on track.
'Shall we go see what our silly girl is doing?' Blue looked at the crowd and tried to see Rebecca. 'Blue, I have to potty first. I'll catch up to you.' She took off to find the long lines of ladies restrooms. As Blue began to walk back to the crowd, he could not see Rebecca. He walked around searching for her. Then he noticed a large black sedan on the street coming towards the ceremony. He saw the dark sedan slow and pull off to the side of the road. He quickly scanned for his daughter; He saw her, pointed at her and then motioned her to move. He had a stern look on his face and Becca knew he was worried. She began to walk fast towards her mother. Patty was walking away from the ladies restroom shaking her head and muttering to herself.
"I swear I have never seen a line like that at a man's restroom. They just need to make more girls potties. Thank SimsGod the lady at the front of the line saw my big belly and let me get in front of her. I don't know if I would have lasted that long.' She saw Becca running towards her. Then she saw Bluesage and stopped. Blue walked carefully up to Patty. 'Angel, listen to me. Look at me and smile. Good, now kiss me gently.' As they touched lips, he whispered to her softly. 'We are being watched.'. Patty's body tightened and Blue grabbed her by the shoulders and squeezed. She released her tension and relaxed.
'Ok blue, what do you want me to do?' 'See Becca coming? You two are to walk towards the pond. I will be right behind you two girls.' He kissed her and then turned to move towards the pond from the other direction. He had his eyes on the men. The crowd had thickened and they lost site of him and his family.
That evening the Don had the men lined up. He had explanations to hear before he made his decision. He had tried to understand how they lost the sage, his daughter Patty, let alone their little girl. That had been the newest idea. Find their young daughter and keep her. That sage man would come out in no time. Now these two sorrowful men had lost the entire family and the chance to win this war. In no time the Don was out of his mind and the men were beyond help. The crew that stayed behind the scenes cleaned it all up. Bluesage and his family were safely back at their tent. He knew they had to make plans soon.
