Chapter 3

Blue and Patty decide to go see her mother and be careful and enjoy the time.

Helen and Aarron are in their home. A phone call came in last night. She thought it would be the Don telling her she was safe to return home. Instead she spoke to her daughter much to her surprise. Patty had taken a chance to see if her mom was in their other home. She felt that her dad would send her mom there when he was angry. She was right and Helen was very excited. She has not seen Patty or Steven or her granddaughter Becca for over a four years. Helen and Aarron have had breakfast and are hoping to see Patty and her family soon. They ready the house for company.

Of course Helen never tells the Don when she sees her daughter. She understand why she ran away. If Helen had any way of running with her children, she would have. The home is a lovely two story. There is an office for Helen to work on the charity functions she volunteers on. Upstairs is a large bedroom she shares with her young son. The bathroom is large and roomy. The laundry room is easy to assess through the bathroom.

Of course she does not do any of her own laundry. She has a maid that comes in daily and takes care of all their needs. As the day moves on, Helen realizes the kids might not come until after dark. She and Aarron go to town and get more groceries. She is hoping Patty and her family stay for a few days.

Bluesage and Patty had been talking for some time about her stopping off to see her mother. Her mother would have a birthday in a few days and she wanted to be there to enjoy it. She knew her father never did a thing for her mother's birthday and Patty wanted to bring her a gift. Bluesage was hard pressed to come up with a reason not to go.

They worked it out and got together a few days worth of clothes. They could not stay long, and he would have to move the truck to another block so they would not know thats there was company at the home. As they packed, Patty was so excited she hardly could sit still. She had not seen her mother in years. Bluesage carefully drove over to her home. He parked and shut the engine off. He grabbed Patty's arm before she left.

Listen Patty, we have to be very careful while we are here. We must keep our secrets and not endanger your mother or brother. Ok? She smiled and opened the door. She and Becca got out first. Oh my she wanted to run, but she didn't dare. As far along as she was, she could go into early labor if she ran and fell.

Bluesage walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. Becca had stopped to pet a cat and was just getting up when her grandmohter opened the door. Helen saw her pregnant daughter and began to weep. 'Oh my sweet angel, you are here. Oh Patty I have missed you so much. And who is this beautiful red headed girl? Oh Rebecca you are so pretty darling. And Steven, how nice to see you son. Come on in right now. I have hot cocoa made and some cookies. Come right in and make yourself at home.' Patty's mom was chatting non stop. Blue could see how she and Patty had some of the same traits. They sat and chatted and carried on for hours.

The next morning Patty woke up early and got breakfast started. A real kitchen was so much fun to cook in. She loved it and always has enjoyed mom's second home. She learned to cook here when she was young. Bluesage and Becca got up and ate early. Blue wanted to keep track of the news. The mob was in the news most every day. Becca wanted to play on grandma's comptuer. It was specially built to let kids surf the internet and be safe. Patty was cleaning up when she heard a little noise. She turned to see her little four year old brother. She had not seen him since he was born. Oh how little he was. Patty bent down and picked him up. She held him and talked to him. He giggled and laughed and kissed her cheek.

It seems that her mother has been talking about her, as little Aarron knew who she was and enjoyed being talked to by her. She set him and down gave him some breakfast. She sat at the table and talked to him while he ate. Afterwards he helped her with the dishes. She left the plate of food out, as she heard her mother upstairs. 'Aarron, what do you do all the time when you are here with mama?' 'I paint and wait for daddy to come over. He said he would be here today.' Patty looked over at her little brother. She looked at the clock. It was ten am. Darling, do you know when daddy is coming? 'He said he would be here by the time cartoons start. They start when the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 10.' Patty's heart stopped.

'Well sweet pea, go get dressed as daddy will be here soon.' She sent him upstairs and she went into the office. 'Blue, my father should be here any moment now. We must leave.' Blue looked up at his wife and saw the panic in her face. Bluesage and Patty and Becca got their bag they brought and took it to the truck. They got in and began to drive away. In the rear view mirror Blue could see the van that took the Don around town. He turned the corner just as the van stopped in front of Helen's home. A feeling of relief came over him as they drove away. The Don was out of his van and bending down to pick up his young son that ran out to greet him.

'Hello there little squirt. How are you today?

What's new today son?'

'I got to see my sister today daddy. She came and she brought her husband and my cousin Becca.'

The Don put his son down and stormed inside to talk to his wife Helen
