Chapter 51

I caught a fleeting glimpse: Out of the corner of my eye.

Most of her time was spent in the office with the other EMT’s. Watching television and learning what other people do in the city. She kept an eye on her watch, knowing this day would have to end in enough time for her to take a bus home. Patty loved to think of her times prior, as an EMT. Bluesage had encouraged her to try and she loved it. Now here she was again, only this time no Bluesage. That hurt her feelings and she began to falter. Then...

ALARMS GO OFF: ELDERLY WOMAN STOPPED BREATHING AFTER GIVING BIRTH.

They all ran and jumped into the trucks. They work on putting on gloves, and gear checked; while the driver gets them to the home. It takes enough time for them to wonder how an elderly woman could be giving birth. There were laws against such behavior. They were pretty sure the police would arrive before them

Once in the home they find her in a pool of blood. The baby she is clutching is barely alive. Her grand daughter is walking in a frenzy, one of the police take her aside and talk to her. He needed to know the age of the woman and any other details. She knew the father of the baby was the delivery man.

'Yeah, she is like seventy five I think, and she and that man were always in the back yard talking about delivery times. I guess this is one of those times.' The detective hated to see this, but they would have to take her to jail when she recovered. He liked the look of the young girl and hoped to come back and talk to her when he was off duty.
