Chapter 52
You work, you work, you work so hard and then Someone,
Someone will come around again
Every call they had was within reach. Patty sat and listened to the talk between the men. She did not feel out of place whatsoever. She just wanted to learn more of their mannerisms so she would fit in better.
A baby's throat began to constrict on a button. The mother had been frantic for about two minutes. Tiffany Burb happened to be her neighbor and came over. She called 911 and they tried to bounce the baby on the couch to and get it out.
As Patty and her partner rushed in, she saw the baby was blue, not the color he should be. She tried to take the baby yet the mother pulled back. Patty knew not to just grab the baby. She had to help or the baby would die. She finally was able to convince the mom with a quiet coaxing: 'Please mama, let me help your baby, give me your baby and I shall help him now.'
She pulled out of her pocket a fish hook instrument to stick into the infant's mouth. She lay him on his back on her hands. With her partner's help, they fished the button out of his lungs. He was immediately screaming with anger and delight. The mother gave the policeman her name and all the information as she held her angry baby in her arms, tears of gratitude streaming down her cheeks.
As they left to go back towards the station, another call on their radio:
DIABETIC COMA IMMEDIATE RESPONSE NEEDED: BAY AREA HOOD SUITE 4554
Sister Anita was a nun that rode with the team of paramedics. She arrived on this scene to see if there was anything more worrisome than an unconscious woman. Patty dragged her diabetes kit out. She poured the blue liquid into the pot. 'This will work fast, and she will come out of it shining. Please stand back Sister.'
The forty year old woman was back up and sitting on her bathroom floor, wondering who all these people were. The police chief and his deputy arrived in time to sit down and talk to Nancy Grimes about what happened. They had to give her cards to show her who to call and get checked.
As her tech drove them away, Patty looked at her watch. It was already ten am. She had a few hours left; yet she felt like she had been here for days. Anita was in the back seat watching. 'You sure have been working hard today Patty. This has been an exceptional day, one I don't know that I have ever seen before.'
ATTENTION CREW 23 AND 45
GOVERNORS RETREAT
MAN FOUND NOT BREATHING IN YARD
CODE BLUE
Sister Anita spoke out loud: 'Bless this family we are approaching. Light beyond the eye today.'
The lights on the ambulance ran and the truck went through red, green and yellow lights. The screaming of the sirens kept everyone watching with interest. The Governor was known to do odd things, and having a large team show up on his road was not spectacular, just interesting.
They had to work on the Governor for an hour or two, before he would even move. The house staff came back from hiding at their homes, to clean up the yard. The police had a crew come and discreetly take him to the hospital. After checking him with their special radar/sonar device his body was almost depleted of all nutrients. He needed more IV solutions than the trucks carried.
