Becky rushed down the stairs. She was in a dressy long white and pink dress. ‘Mom and dad let’s go outside and I can show you what I have been practicing.’ Patty had to keep from asking her to change her clothes. With her daddy home, it was a celebration of the best kind. Becky held dad's hand as they walked out towards the equipment. Greg had curled up under the tree, so they didn't try and wake him.
Even with the happy feelings of him being home, a quiet part of her mind reminded her that there was a little boy missing from this perfect celebration. She shut that off to watch Becky do a flip that scared her. Becky smiled as she stood. 'See mom it helps to practice over and over.' Dad was quite proud.
'Daddy watch me go upside down.’ Her dad marveled at her ability to stay upside down so long. Not a normal thing for children, but normal for his children. They all held hands and jumped on the trampoline. The laughter felt so good it was hard to imagine them ever feeling sad.
Dad jumped the highest and had both girls clapping as they sat on the grass to rest. Patty looked at the two of them 'Hey you two, how about some chocolate eyebrow sundaes?' Blue bent down and whispered in Becky’s ear; she snickered and hugged her dad. ‘Mom we want some kidney stones on top.’ Patty laughed and agreed they needed that on top.
Becky helped her dad get up, who was trying hard to act like he was old. Then dad turned and whisked mom up on her feet. They walked back into their home. Becky went to color in her new coloring book while dessert was being made.
