She held up her book, and her daddy laughed. ‘Looks like I have a mouse in the house mama. Seems our little mouse found her other book.’ He laughed and grabbed her and twirled her around. Becky hugged her daddy and then her mama. She sat and began to read the chapters on magic spells. Her parents stayed quiet, and she knew they needed time for themselves. After her third chapter, her father interrupts Becky.
‘Now can you take care of yourself for a bit? I want to take mommy on a walk over to the lake.’ She smiled at him and shook her head. Then mom had a chore for her. ‘Becky, would you please put this back in our room?’ Mom handed her the baby basket.
Becky watched as her parents walked, hand in hand, towards the door. Becky stopped to watch; she knew what dad would do next. He waved his arm, twisted to see his daughter, winked at her and transported Patty and himself to the lake. Becky clapped her hands with such glee; she loved to watch her magic daddy. As she put the baby bed back in the bedroom, she talked out loud the spells she had memorized in the book dad had given her.
