The storm was coming closer now, as the thunder grew louder.
Steven Bluesage sat with his family at the table in their small castle. He was still visibly shaken by the confrontation in the Library. He looked around the table, to his wife, daughter, his baby son, David, now sleeping softly in his carriage next to the table. Steven looked at the little grey Gargoyle that he had already taken on a Time adventure.
He spoke. "Patty, Becky, David, Greg. I know that you are all frightened by these recent events. I am, too. So I`ve already put some plans into motion that I hope will encourage you all."
"We`re going to have workmen in, all this week. This is a fine team recommended by Hank at the library. They`ll be doing some landscaping. I hope you like the new Lilac hedge, by the way. Now, to the public, it will look like outside work. They won`t notice the workmen adding a small "Panic Room", inside our West Tower, on the ground floor."
Greg furrowed his brow, grunted and began sniffing the air. Becky shifted uncomfortably, while Patty sat, rapt with attention.
"Family, I have thought this thing thru. I`m making plans to keep you all out of danger. Please listen carefully, and remember to follow my instructions."
"First of all, they`re not going to come in the front door; these are smart people. They are liable to break in thru any window, on the top or bottom floor. We have to remain mobile, at first, and avoid any contact or capture."
Next, Steven produced a black circle about 18" in diameter. Carefully, he laid it on the floor and stepped back.
